Law/Kingdon Office Remodel
<< Back to Previous Page
With interior
office design trends moving to
more contemporary styles with
sweeping curves and floor
plans designed to maximize
openness, the newly remodeled
Law/Kingdon offices place this
architectural firm ahead of the curve.
The small conference room
highlights one of the unique
aspects of the Law/Kingdon
office remodel project. Two
Laguna Series sliding glass
doors by CR Laurence
positioned on opposite ends of
the small conference room are
mounted directly to the glass
wall sliding on an aluminum
track above the doorway. Laguna doors are a unique
feature of this remodel project
because they are one of only a
few sliding door systems
designed to be mounted in an all-glass
opening.
Due to increased stress, glass
wall systems require the use of
tempered, heavy glass — ½”glass or thicker.
When traditional clear glass is
specified in heavier thicknesses,
its appearance takes on a pale
green tint. The thicker the glass
is, the more apparent the green
tint becomes.
The reason for this is due to
the amount of iron present in the
glass.
½” Starphire, a low-iron glass
by PPG Industries, transmits 91
percent of visible light while
traditional ½” clear glass
transmits 85 percent. The ultraclear
character of Starphire glass
creates a crisp, color neutral
aesthetic ideal for interior glass
wall systems as well as other
decorative applications.
